SearchMe is a Visual Search Engine sorta like iPod Touch and iPhones!

I recently ran into a cool visual search site called SearchMe that lets you search visually using screenshots of search results.  It’s really iPod Touch/iPhone browsing applied to a search engine.

The service works pretty fast and it’s pretty neat.  I might not use it on regular basis but it seems to have a big future.

For being a good search engine, we gave it our “Web3.0″ tag. :)

They even have YouTube search, check out this video:

Google - Viacom’s YouTube lawsuit threatens freedom

In the recent attack by Viacom to Google’s (GOOG) Youtube, Viacom is money hungry sorta like a vampire.

I believe Youtube is actually helping Viacom more than it’s hurting them through distribution networks never thought possible before.

Think about how many countries that “don’t” get Viacom sitcoms and shows if it weren’t for the internet and Youtube.

Well, as it stands, it’s just a corporate war but from a consumer’s standpoint, Viacom is only hurting their image by going after someone who helped them be more internationally famous.

Let the freedom rule, if we let big traditional media companies like Viacom win, they will eventually start take over everything else including blogging.

NEW YORK (AP) — A $1 billion copyright infringement lawsuit challenging YouTube’s ability to keep copyrighted material off its popular video-sharing site threatens how hundreds of millions of people exchange all kinds of information on the Internet, YouTube owner Google Inc. said.

Google’s lawyers made the claim in papers filed in U.S. District Court in Manhattan as the company responded to Viacom Inc.’s latest lawsuit alleging that the Internet has led to “an explosion of copyright infringement” by YouTube and others.

The back-and-forth between the companies has intensified since Viacom brought its lawsuit last year, saying it was owed damages for the unauthorized viewing of its programming from MTV, Comedy Central and other networks, including such hits as “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.”

Trapster is a cell-phone social network for Speedtraps!

Trapster is a cell-phone social network for Speedtraps!

Here’s a very interesting social network for cellphones.  Basically with Trapster, users can easily notify the locations of speed traps at the push of a button.  You can download their software which works on most blackberries and PDAs to be alerted and also alert drivers about speed traps.

Good idea?

Yes, this might have a good long term potential sorta like GasBuddy.com

It all started, of course, with the radar guns used by police officers to detect speeders. Then came radar detectors used by motorists who wanted to skedaddle faster than posted speed limits. Then police began using laser units which are more effective and more accurate than radar guns and so on and so on.

Now, the latest “upgrade” in this ongoing game of high-tech one-upmanship: Trapster. Trapster is a service developed and run by Pete Tenereillo of Carlsbad, Calif., and is essentially a cell-phone social network that allows motorists to hook up with one another for the purpose of issuing real-time alerts about the location of speed traps.

Trapster works like this: Go to the Web site, and sign up for a free membership. Then download the Trapster software to your cell phone or PDA. Tenereillo said that most current-generation cell phones, Blackberries and other PDA’s can accommodate the Trapster software.

Then, you’re ready to hit the road. And once you’re tooling down the highway, if you spot a state trooper or city cop lying in wait with a radar gun or laser unit, you just need to punch in “pound one” on your cell phone — or dial a toll-free number. Other users are then alerted on their cell phones or PDA when they approach the same speed trap.

BlogAmp for Blog Podcasting

Here’s a good podcasting tool for all you bloggers.  You can use BlogAmp to share your podcasts via “embed”.

I think this is a great idea since a lot of bloggers don’t want to be podcasting all the time and BlogAmp brings you the “share” idea sorta like Youtube.

BlogAmp is an on demand audiocasting service. It comes with a complete content management and admin system, allowing users to customize their presentations and to broadcast them over the internet. Features include free embedding to any blog or website, built in podcast feeds, custom color generator, links to external mp3 files and audience tracking tools.

YouTomb documents all videos taken down by YouTube!

It’s amazing what people can come up with these days, especially on those “piggy-back” strategies to YouTube, Facebook, MySpace, and other big social sites.

YouTomb is a site that documents all videos taken by YouTube but you can’t watch them! … isn’t that funny?

Lol… check it out, it might have an early “death” beat by early-adopters…

(Actually, this IS a really good idea, sorta like the internet timeline archive thingee)

Ever wonder exactly how many videos are taken down from YouTube because of copyright violations or other reasons? So did the folks at the MIT Free Culture student group. They created YouTomb to document all YouTube videos that have been taken down. It is currently tracking 177,000 videos, and counts 4,394 that have been taken down for alleged copyright violations.

Yahoo Launches SearchMonkey, an Open-source Search Engine Platform!

Yahoo (YHOO) just launched their new search engine platform API, SearchMonkey. Basically, now developers can customize Yahoo’s search engine results using their API tool.

Sorta like this:

It’s a great way to customize their search engine without Yahoo doing any work. Lol…but this will be great for developers as you could make some serious cash with a great app.

With SearchMonkey, developers have a hand in shaping the next generation of search by building customized search results and mash-ups that users can add to their Yahoo! Search experience. By leveraging structured data from sites like CitySearch, StumbleUpon, eBay, or Epicurious.com, developers can add navigational links, reviews, contact information, and even locations to provide enhanced search listings.

Developers can build two types of applications using SearchMonkey: Enhanced Results and Infobars. Enhanced Results replace the current standard results with a richer display. All the links in the Enhanced Results must point to the site to which the result refers. Infobars are appended below search results and can include metadata about the result, related links or content, or links for user actions (such as adding a movie to a Netflix queue).

TweetBeep Launched - Google Alert for Twitter

TweetBeep Launched - Google Alert for Twitter

Here’s an interesting site called TweetBeep that just launched. Sorta like Google Alert, with TweetBeep, you can be alerted when someone “twitts” about your selected keywords. Looks like this one might be big, so keep your eye on this one.

TweetBeep allows you to track various keywords published throughout the Twitter world. All you have to do is enter your Twitter account information, the keyword you want to track, and the email address you want the notifications sent to to keep updated on what’s being said about you, your site, your product, or anything else that matters to you. It even finds the links that include your keyword in the original URL no matter if they’ve been shortened by tinyURL or some other similar service. You can have the tracker refreshed every few hours or every day, depending on how often you like to receive notifications.

Great way to bring in Traffic through Stumbleupon

The image “http://www.stumbleupon.com/images/bg_main_mosaic.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Somehow, after I have been using Stumbleupon for almost a year, I’ve found that Stumbleupon brings traffic to any site you stumble. (of course, given that you stumble a lot of sites…) We will be testing Stumbleupon as our basis for bringing in traffic to the Zedomax Network over the next couple weeks. Although Digg is also a very good source, they seems to have some type of stereotype of what types of topics they want to show up on the front page. It always seems like the same boring sites that show up on Digg while Stumbleupon has much more diverse crowd.

What’s Stumbleupon? It’s a way of browsing random websites based on your favorite topics with a web-browser plug-in. Although they really need to make the Stumble button faster for those of us “super-fast” stumblers… Well… you can check out my stupid bizarre stumbles on my Stumbleupon account here.

The main thing is that I like their logo, it looks kinda cool~ Sorta like our Dabomb.TV logo….
