In the recent attack by Viacom to Google’s (GOOG) Youtube, Viacom is money hungry sorta like a vampire.
I believe Youtube is actually helping Viacom more than it’s hurting them through distribution networks never thought possible before.
Think about how many countries that “don’t” get Viacom sitcoms and shows if it weren’t for the internet and Youtube.
Well, as it stands, it’s just a corporate war but from a consumer’s standpoint, Viacom is only hurting their image by going after someone who helped them be more internationally famous.
Let the freedom rule, if we let big traditional media companies like Viacom win, they will eventually start take over everything else including blogging.
NEW YORK (AP) — A $1 billion copyright infringement lawsuit challenging YouTube’s ability to keep copyrighted material off its popular video-sharing site threatens how hundreds of millions of people exchange all kinds of information on the Internet, YouTube owner Google Inc. said.
Google’s lawyers made the claim in papers filed in U.S. District Court in Manhattan as the company responded to Viacom Inc.’s latest lawsuit alleging that the Internet has led to “an explosion of copyright infringement” by YouTube and others.
The back-and-forth between the companies has intensified since Viacom brought its lawsuit last year, saying it was owed damages for the unauthorized viewing of its programming from MTV, Comedy Central and other networks, including such hits as “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.”

Google (GOOG) has just announced that they are opening up their content network to 3rd party companies such as DoubleClick. This isn’t something new since DoubleClick has been already been working with Google before but it’s a good thing for advertisers and publishers since now you can use 3rd party software to take advantage of Google’s offers.
Ad servers, rich media ad agencies and research firms can now go through a certification process that ensures the highest level of advertiser service and user experience. In fact, advertisers and agencies now have the ability to serve ads and measure performance through these certified third parties:
- Advertiser ad servers: DoubleClick (DFA), Mediaplex
- Research firms: Dynamic Logic, IAG Research, InsightExpress, Factor TG
- Rich media agencies: DoubleClick Rich Media, Eyeblaster, EyeWonder, Interpolls, PointRoll, Unicast

Google (GOOG) is probably the only web search engine giant that pushes green projects right now. Google is investing $125 million into BrightSource Energy. Although Yahoo does have Yahoo Green, I don’t see them taking real action like this.
Today we are pleased to announce our participation in BrightSource Energy’s $115 million venture financing with a $10 million equity investment as part of Google’s RE<C initiative.
Solar thermal energy generation is one of the key emerging industries addressing the changing global climate and we are excited about both of our current investments in solar thermal technology — BrightSource Energy and eSolar.

In a recent launch of Google’s (GOOG) Friend Connect, Facebook has banned Google’s access temporarily until Google complies to Facebook’s specifications of sharing private data.
It’s hard to tell whether Facebook will ban Google completely but I think they are really trying to protect their own privacy policies at this point.
The day that Facebook goes public, I am buying shares though.
The fact is that Google is taking perfectly adequate steps to protect user privacy with their Friend Connect product, and it is a useful product for users. After talking with both sides, it seems to me that Facebook is relying on a very convenient catch-22 to stay out of Google’s network. They are the ones in control of their own API functionality, and they could add features that fix this problem. Until they do, there’s nothing Google can do to remedy the “problem,” and the walls around the Facebook garden get ever higher.

Have you used Yahoo (YHOO)search engine lately?
Well, I haven’t used it honestly for couple months but I am impressed at their new real-time AJAX keyword suggestion feature.
They even have an “Explore concepts” feature, which I’d say is more towards Web 3.0 and the semantic web.
This functionality is way more advanced than Google (GOOG) at this point. I am sure Google has something in the works to compete against Yahoo’s innovations but today I am impressed at Yahoo’s improvements.
Now, if Yahoo keeps improves their search engine algorithm a little bit or join Google to make the GooHoo thing real, that’d be the day we have some really really good search engine.

Goodrunk, a search engine based on Google custom search API, was launched minutes ago. Basically, it give you the “alcoholic” influence to your next Google search.
I typed, “cars” on Goodrunk and got lots of interesting searches. It might come in handy when I need to find a “beer” influenced site when trying to find some sites for blogging.
Lol, I found this great site that uses Google API to bring alcoholic influence to your next Google search.
I typed, “San Francisco” on Goodrunk, and San Francisco Beer Guide came up first on results! Yey, finally a drunken google search baby!
I will be using this search engine from now on and maybe even add it to SiteHoppin Toolbar.

GooHoo, a combination of Google and Yahoo search engine, was launched just minutes ago. Google and Yahoo has combined the best of their user interactive content and search engine powers to bring internet users the “real deal”.
Google (NSDQ: GOOG) co-founder Sergey Brin recently said, “We have been talking to Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO) and we are very excited to be working with them.” The goal? Tie the two companies into an advertising powerhouse, which I have decided to call GooHoo.
