Our favorite fox, Firefox, has taken the browser market share of 19% as of recently. Although IE still controls the browser-war, it won’t be long before the fox starts a big killing in the next few years.
Firefox 3 has experienced rapid market share gains since its release in mid-June, helping to push the Mozilla browser’s overall share to more than 19%, a Web metrics firm said Wednesday.
Since its release June 17, Firefox 3’s worldwide usage share has soared to more than 4%, Net Applications reported. In the first hour of its release, the latest version of the open source browser grabbed 1% of the global market.

May 9th, 2008 — Launched, Social Bookmarking

Mento, a bookmarking service similar to Del.icio.us, has just launched. The only difference Mento does is that it’s really oriented so you can “send” your bookmarks to others using Twitter and social networks.
They are using beta invites so you need an invite to try the service out.
The service does look promising but only time will tell its success.
Beyond the features typically found on tagging sites, Mento strives to simplify sharing links with friends by allowing users to import and interact with their Facebook contacts. The site also differentiates itself by keeping track of how many times a link you’ve shared has been clicked, and which members have clicked it.
Mento can be used either with bookmarklets in your browser’s toolbar or as an extension that appears as a button (available for both Firefox and IE). The extension isn’t intrusive, but it doesn’t seem to offer much extra functionality over the bookmarklet at this point (though this will likely change in the future).

Yahoo acquires Inquisitor, a Safari Browser Plug-in. Safari is the default browser on MACs but you can download it for PC too.
I find that Safari is actually a pretty good browser, a lot better than IE7. I like how the text boxes show up differently for the same site you load on Firefox.
It looks like Yahoo is targetting Mac users (of course) through this acquisition.
Time will tell whether this plug-in will help Yahoo to gain a good share of Mac users. If that happens, Google might come up with something similar soon, if they are not working on it already…
Download it here to try it.
Inquisitor 3, a search technology that auto-completes queries and delivers results right in Safari Web browser, is similar to Yahoo!’s existing Search Assist technology. Simply type in your query and websites will appear immediately, as well as suggestions for refining your search. Just as with Search Assist, the goal with Inquisitor is to help users find exactly the site they’re looking for as quickly as possible.
