Here’s comes Twellow, a search engine for twitters basically. I typed, “zedomax” and found my twitter account which is cool I guess.
Beyond that, there are other functions like you can search by categories and whatnot.
I think this is a really good idea as search engines have proven to make a lot of money. (Google???)
Twellow is a great new search tool and directory for discovering Twitter users that could fundamentally change the way people use the microblogging service.
Launched by the same people behind the tech news site WebProNews, Twellow has indexed more than 300,000 users and sorted them into categories like programming, marketing, graphic design, and dozens of others to help you find users who list those characteristics in their Twitter biographies. With all the people trying to make money by piggy backing on Twitter, here’s another cool app that might make a million bucks using that strategy.
TwittURLy is a real time tracker of popular URLs on Twitter.
It looks like a good idea and if they can implement a “category-based” updates, it might even do better.
Twitturly operates similar to Digg.com, however instead of users voting sites up or down on our site, we monitor the Twitter public timeline for links inside the Tweets and consider each tweet with a link in it as a vote for that URL.
A major benefit of Twitturly over other popular news outlets is that Twitter often has the information first, thus anyone watching Twitturly will usually see news break before any other outlet has it.
We use a proprietary algorithm to sort the links on our homepage so the most popular and recent ones appear closer to the top.
Here’s an interesting site called TweetBeep that just launched. Sorta like Google Alert, with TweetBeep, you can be alerted when someone “twitts” about your selected keywords. Looks like this one might be big, so keep your eye on this one.
TweetBeep allows you to track various keywords published throughout the Twitter world. All you have to do is enter your Twitter account information, the keyword you want to track, and the email address you want the notifications sent to to keep updated on what’s being said about you, your site, your product, or anything else that matters to you. It even finds the links that include your keyword in the original URL no matter if they’ve been shortened by tinyURL or some other similar service. You can have the tracker refreshed every few hours or every day, depending on how often you like to receive notifications.
NextBestAction.com, what seems like an evil entrepreneural brother of Twitter, launches its microbloggin platform. From what I can tell, the startup lacks a lot of visual graphics. But perhaps that could be their selling point, just like Craigslist looked horrible. (and still looks horrible!)
While to the untrained eye, it looks like a mess of dialogue and conversation bits– sort of like a nerdy im conversation with lots of links and nonsense. However, it’s more than meets the eye. NextBestAction uses the concept of microblogging and the Twitter phenomenon with the purpose of better business. It’s Twitter for the entrepreneurial spirit. If you want business or management advice, or if you want some good old fashioned philosophy, NextBestAction’s a good place to go. So far, it’s very beta and doesn’t look like much, but it’s a interesting use of the platform.
Fuzz, a music portal/social networking site, has launched Blip, basically a Twitter-clone for Music lovers.
The most outstanding feature is that when people “blip” instead of “twitt”, they can link an MP3 song straight from the Fuzz database. This feature is really cool as I am actually listening to an MP3 “blipped” by one of Blip users.
Great stuff, although I am not an avid Twitter, I will be an avid Blipper as now I can hop from song to song.
But if music is indeed a significant part of Pownce’s future, then Blip is one step ahead. Call it “Twitter for Music” since it’s essentially just that: a way to suggest music and share your thoughts about it with a network of contacts.
The beauty of Blip is that, unlike with Pownce, no file uploads are necessary. Just search for the song you have in mind and Blip will grab it from Seeqpod, Skreemr, or parent company Fuzz’s own database of music. Your followers (”listeners”) can hear full versions of the songs you post using a Songza-like player at the bottom of the page.
It seems like everyday we see more web apps geared toward Facebook and Twitter.
Well, it should be obvious to everyone in the Web2.0 world that there’s a lot of money to be made by piggybacking on those bigger “whales”.

Twitter, a popular micro-blogging service, is working on blacklisting spammers. Well, they have been blacklisting spammers before but now I guess they are just more open about it.
What does this do for you?
Nothing, just twitt along and hope that the Twitter team will figure it out soon or later.
I don’t use twitter so often anymore due to the number of spam on my twitter. I hope this new blacklisting feature works out so I can use it more often.
Before today, Twitter would mark accounts as “spam”, but not tell the owners of the accounts they marked them as spam. Those owners of the accounts could follow others, but no one was able to follow them, and there was no way for the owners of those accounts to know they had been blacklisted.
We’ve been considering this issue here at Twitter HQ, and we’re planning on simply removing the accounts of users who have violated our Terms of Service, as opposed to freezing their account as we’ve done in the past.
To this I say, “wow, you guys ARE slow!”, simply because I have seen twitterpam about a year ago before it got popular among the top bloggers.
