Digg Ads – Digg Intros Contextual Sponsored Digg Ads!
Digg, which has been using mostly Google Adsense ads and private ads to raise revenue, recently introduced their new “contextual” sponsored Digg ads.
I actually noticed this yesterday (or 2 days ago I don’t remember), I actually thought somehow I was on the wrong page. Upon closer reading, I saw that there’s TWO Diggs, one of course a sponsored Digg.
This is part of their new Digg Ads as seen in their previous blog post months before.
Digg Ads will appear alongside stories in the river. The sponsored content will look and feel similar to regular Digg content, but will be clearly marked as sponsored. It may link to stories, video trailers, independent product reviews – many of the same types of content you see on Digg every day. The goal here is to give advertisers a way to present content related to their brands and get immediate input on whether it’s relevant to the Digg audience, or not.
I could not find a link where you can actually sign up to do this, perhaps it’s only closed to private beta invites but I suspect it will be released to the public very soon.
I think this is a great idea and perhaps will catapult their sales revenue stream to a whole different level.

Are they playing fair with these ads?
